Feeling Gross

I did terribly today. I ate chocolate and peanuts that I shouldn’t have and now I feel gross. And then to top it off, I ate roast, potatoes, corn and gravy for supper. I feel even worse!

Not every day is like this, of course. I actually lost a few pounds last week, which is a good thing! But ugh!

I feel like something has changed mentally. I don’t have that drive like I used to have. I want to be thin, but I don’t really believe I’ll ever get there and so I self sabotage myself over and over again.

Maybe I don’t want it bad enough. Whatever it is, I HATE IT. I must change.

I can keep saying this over and over and over, but at least I haven’t given up. I’m still trying. I suppose this “healthy” thing is a lifelong commitment and I will have bad days along with the good. That makes me feel a little better. Like less of a failure.

Tomorrow, Jess and I are starting our summer challenge together, so that will be inspiration to get it together…AGAIN. And another girl has joined the competition so the stakes are higher. This time we’re counting “healthy checks” similar to WW. We are focusing on habits and healthy choices, not just weight loss.

I’m sorry I’m not very inspirational these days…this has definitely been a rough patch in my journey. Sad smile

A Day of Delicious Food

Memorial Day weekend went by way too quickly. It seems like they always do! But it was relaxing and fun. Now come on 4th of July!! Which reminds me, I have some planning to do!

For breakfast, I ate Cheerios with 1/2 of a sliced banana along with milk.

Pool&BloodDrive 001

It’s always hard to get going after a holiday weekend, but I did what needed to be done and signed in to work. While working, I sipped on an iced latte.

Pool&BloodDrive 002

On my break, I ate a light cheese stick.

Pool&BloodDrive 005

And a 50 calorie bag of Pop Chips.

Pool&BloodDrive 006

For lunch, I ate a salad with lettuce, tomato, avocado, chicken, a boiled egg, sharp cheddar, cashews and light ranch.

Pool&BloodDrive 009

So good! I finished it up with FF/SF butterscotch pudding.

Pool&BloodDrive 010

And then I got to work on Job #2. I spent the entire afternoon working on stories and getting photos, but I had fun while doing it! I also love that I can spend most of my time working out in my porch. Open-mouthed smile

For supper, I had grilled chicken, butternut squash, and Texas toast with rhubarb jam.

The chicken was SO good. I marinated it in this:

I also had a side salad with spinach, strawberries, blueberries, almonds and raspberry vinaigrette.

After that, we headed to donate blood for the first time. I was nervous, but it went ok! It was basically a pint of blood—that’s a lot of blood! Hubby donated too. He got pretty light headed, but he was ok after resting a bit. We will do it again!

20 Mile Bike Ride with Pics

Hubby and I went on a nice 20 mile bike ride today! It was beautiful! The park we rode through was very shaded in most parts, so it was the perfect location for a hot day. Here are some photos!

I’m not really sure what that line is across my head? lol weird. Must have been my hair blowing in the wind.

MemorialDayBikeRide 006

There were a lot of people out in the park today, being a holiday. I was reminded of how lucky I am to be able to move and bike—even though I may not like how I look or like my weight. We saw a man who could barely walk, walking the trails with two canes. He looked like he was learning to walk again, recovering from an accident. It reminded me to count my blessings. To be Thankful for what I do have.

Lilly pads! I don’t know why, but I am fascinated by these.

Pretty flowers:

And one more of us…our customary “end of the ride” photo. We actually don’t look that tired! I think we could have biked a lot farther.

MemorialDayBikeRide 018

We actually rode pretty consistently, I think out average pace was about 12-13 mph. We stopped a couple of times for water. I felt a lot more fit this time riding these same trails that we rode last year. Weird. But it seemed easier.

MemorialDayBikeRide 019

Hopefully we have a lot more rides like this over the summer!

Honoring my Grandpa: A Marine

I spent the afternoon today at a Memorial Day Banquet for veterans at the assisted living home where my grandpa is living. It was a special experience and I’m so glad I got to go!

They were giving rides in old military vehicles. We rode in a Jeep from 1943. Here’s my grandpa all ready to go!

GrandpaVeteran 006

And here we all are! It was a very windy day and a very windy ride!

GrandpaVeteran 010

A little closer:

GrandpaVeteran 013

My grandpa talked to the driver about his time in the Marines in WWII. I know he enjoyed the ride and I’m sure it broke up the monotony of his days.

GrandpaVeteran 016

Here’s my grandpa as he always is…I asked to take his picture and he stuck his tongue out when I snapped the picture. lol

GrandpaVeteran 022

And a more serious one:

GrandpaVeteran 023

This one didn’t turn out so well, but an active duty Marine gave my grandpa a Marines hat and t-shirt and thanked him for his service.

GrandpaVeteran 024

This man also served in the Marines and gave my grandpa sand from the shores of Iwo Jima. Very touching.

GrandpaVeteran 027

I am proud of my Grandpa’s service in the Marines and all of his sacrifice so that we can be free.

Thank you to all of the veterans out there!!

I’d like a seedless watermelon, with seeds, please…?

This morning I lost another .8 lb. putting me at 210.6. Whoohoo!

Last night, I ended up eating 111 of my extra 1000 calories. I was really hungry by the end of the night! And I’m glad that I am allowed extra if I am hungry. This time I didn’t feel like I screwed it all up by eating over my calories.

I am no longer going to have an “official” weigh in day. Every day is going to count for losses—more inspiration to eat right every day! On days I maintain or gain, I will allow myself a week to get it back off before I count it as an official gain.

For breakfast, I ate an egg scrambled with turkey sausage, 1/2 serving of oatmeal and 1/2 of a sliced banana.

52312 001

While working, I drank an iced latte.

52312 002

On my break, I ate an apple with PB.

52312 003

I actually got off work 3 hours early today. I don’t like to do that very often, but when they offer… it’s hard to refuse!

But I was very productive!

I baked the banana bread that hubby has been asking for.

I Chopped up a SEEDLESS watermelon, which I was disgusted because it had a WHOLE LOT of seeds for being seedless!! And I paid more for it!

52312 004

I also made Bisquick Heart Smart waffles to put in the freezer.

52312 005

I packaged them two to a bag with parchment paper and put them in the freezer. They will be easy to pop in the toaster in the morning. I can’t convince myself to buy frozen waffles anymore and have been wanting to try this forever.

52312 006

I also did laundry and dishes. And even finished up my EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale Review.

I baked a butternut squash so that it’s prepared and easy to pop in the microwave.

52312 021

I kept busy to keep myself from eating!

For lunch, I made an egg salad pita with baked kale chips.

52312 019

YUM!!! I do not feel like I’m eating a serving of veggies when I eat kale chips. I feel like I’m cheating. They’re too good to be true. I could eat them for every meal. Seriously.

And finished it up with one of these:

52312 020

And then I cleaned part of the house. By that time, it was 10 minutes until about my normal work time for job #2. So I took a quick break. All of that done in the time I would have spent sitting in my chair working job #1!

I worked for a little over 2 hours. It’s amazing how fast the time goes for Job #2. I like it!

I was getting hungry and it was about that 4.5 hours after eating lunch, so I ate some of the Watermelon I had cut up earlier.

52312 022

I’m not a melon fan, but I’m trying to like it! This was actually very flavorful.

Hubby came home early because we had an appointment for life insurance. It took forever to get everything taken care of..and I was starving before that so by the time we were done with that, I was famished!!

For supper, I ate whole wheat pasta with ground beef in tomato sauce along with a side salad topped with grape tomatoes, a little cheese, and light ranch. I also had a Ciabatta roll with cheese.

52312 023

YUM! What a delicious supper!

Hubby had to go back to his job site to finish up some work, so I rode along with him so we could have some time together. While he worked, I went for a walk. It was fun to walk in a different town and see some different scenery! I walked 1.64 miles in 31 minutes.

It looks like I have 32 calories left for the day. That’s counting 1/2 of my exercise calories. I’m still hungry, so I will probably eat a small snack before bed. I also drank 15 cups of water today…and I’m still thirsty! I don't know smile

Day 3 was another good day!

EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale Review

One of the most used tools in my kitchen is my digital food scale. It’s easier than getting out and dirtying up a measuring cup every time I eat something. Because, as anyone who is trying to lose weight knows, you must measure everything you eat. Left to guess work, I tend to underestimate what I’m eating. A digital scale is a necessary tool in any dieters kitchen, or even if you need to calculate postage. Smile

The EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale is easy to use with a large digital display.

52312 008

I’m not crazy about this red (more of a burgundy) color, but that really depends on your personal preference and what works in your kitchen. The good thing is that the scale comes in 4 colors: red, white, chrome, and black. Chrome is more my style!

Probably the most important thing to look for in a kitchen scale is a tare feature, which this Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale makes easy.

Just turn the scale on and place your dish on the scale. Press the tare button:

52312 009

Voila!

52312 010

Time to measure your food or the package you need to stick in the mail, of course.

52312 012

One serving of almonds. Or one almond.

52312 013

Another great feature is that you can push the unit button to switch from grams (as shown above) to Kg.

52312 015

to oz.

52312 016

and to lbs.

52312 017

So no matter what you’re measuring or what increment you are measuring in, you can get an accurate measurement to the nearest gram.

I highly recommend the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale. It’s worth the small investment of $25 on the EatSmart website. Or find it on Amazon.com.
