I’m Ok Being Me

I’m ok just being me. I’m ok doing things my way—even when others tell me I’m doing it all wrong. If it works for me, then it’s just fine.

I have spent my entire life worrying too much about what other people think. I have spent far too much time valuing other people’s opinions over my own. What I have to think, and my ways are just as good and if they work for me—then who cares if other people don’t agree with me?

Losing weight has taught me to respect myself. I value myself for the first time in my life. I believe in myself. I value my intelligence, my capability, my motivation, my will power, my strength and my womanhood more than ever. I am worth it.

I have always felt like everyone else was better than me. Their ideas were more creative, their insights more intelligent, their beauty far outstanding, their wit more witty and their capability far greater than mine. But what I have found is that we are all unique and wonderful in our own way.

I am learning that people aren’t going to agree with me all of the time, but that doesn’t make me wrong, and it doesn’t make them right—every single time. Criticism can’t affect me if I respect myself. And I am worth respecting. That doesn’t mean that I can’t take constructive criticism and use it to grow as a person, but it does mean that I don’t have to take criticism as the 100% truth every single time.

No more getting upset over words that hurt me. I’m a grown girl—I can do what I want and think what I want to think. And nobody can stop me! Feels like freedom to me!

  5. Very true. And when someone doesn't agree with me, it does give me something to think about. I don't often change my mind, but it helps to try to understand where they are coming from.
