I am setting a new reward for myself. When I got back from vacation I actually weighed 228, but spent a few days losing before "officially" starting. I started this journey at 288 and I have always rewarded myself at every 10 lb. lost mark.
I have met my 218 and 208 goals in the past, but since I am moving forward, I decided, why not reward myself at the 218 mark again. Something small and something to look forward to and work towards. So when I reach 218, I get a pedicure! Yay! Normally, I would just get one anyways, so why not work for it?
Do you reward yourself? With what?
I used to reward myself with a cupcake! hahah but now its gotten serious so I dont have "rewards" set up per say, but I have "goals", like by my Bday in march I want to weigh, etc...and then by my brothers graduation i want to weigh...etc...and those days are so important to me for various reasons that that in itself motivates me...ALSO vacations..I am promising myself a trip to the beach to celebrate my weight loss and I want to look hot this summer!! LOL Last summer I started my journey hard core and this summer I want to be very close to goal!! Good luck girl you can do it! Pedicures are great motivation for me too!
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about doing this for every 10 pounds as well. Rewards I have been thinking of are manicure, pedicure, eyebrow wax, facial, hair cut. I guess I could go on and on LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to think of a reasonable reward for myself (non-food) for my 5-lb losses. I just can't decide what the rewards should be. I would love, love, love a pedicure! But that's not reasonable for every 5 lbs in a one-income household with 4 kids. Too expensive. Usually a Mother's Day gift. haha But I think this is a great idea, Alissa. We are women, and I think we just naturally love a reward, a thank you, a pat on the back for a job well done. :)
ReplyDeleteI reward myself with little things - When I reach 180 I get to take myself to Victoria Secret and get measured for a new bra and buy one. I need to be measured but I needed to set a goal so I would get there to do it.
ReplyDeleteHi there. New to your blog
ReplyDeleteIm on a weightloss journey as well.
I have always rewarded myself with food. Obvsly thats not great ;)
Yes, I do reward myself for every 5 pounds lost. Well, that's the plan anyway. Haven't lost the first 5 pounds yet...but I'll get there! I think it's a great motivator!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I hope you don't mind if I like it...I am trying to make a list of inspirational blogs :) I have a site at www.marydillman.com and blog at http://marydillman.com/blogengine1/ - starting my week 4 on WW.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a reward system in place, but was thinking....there are some really cute "knockoff pandora" bracelets at Michaels, maybe for every 5 lbs I lose, I'll buy a bead. Have a great Thursday Alissa.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea!! Love it!!
DeleteI don't reward myself for pounds lost but I do not hesitate to buy myself a new outfit for an occasion, especially if I have been seeing consistent losses. It helps motivate me to keep going because I always want to one up my last new outfit.
ReplyDeleteI tend to reward myself with little treats. I'll spend a little extra on yarn for a new project or maybe new shoes. Or sometimes it's enough to go brag on my blog :) but whatever keeps you motivated, and a pedicure sounds so nice!
ReplyDeleteI don't reward myself too often, but I went for a pedicure when I hit 50 lbs lost.
ReplyDeleteIf it motivates you to work hard, then go for it!! Unfortunately, I just don't always think about the prize before the instant gratification...I'm working on that. :)
