This past weekend hubby and I took a little weekend trip to Kansas City. So first off, here is a little recap with pictures.
We stayed in Downtown KC at Hotel Phillips. It was a beautiful and historic hotel!
I loved the elevators in this place- golden doors.
Here is the view from our room:
Overall, we weren’t all that impressed with the stay there. It was loud, the walls must have been paper thin. People would walk down the hallway at 3 AM screaming and yelling and pounding on doors. Parking cost $18 a night and then you had to tip the valet guy on top of that! It was a different experience overall, but probably not one we’ll do again in the near future.
On Saturday we just spent the day going to different places. We went to Crown Center- which was a fun place to walk around! We had Einstein Bagels- which was a first for us- I know!
And the headquarters of Hallmark cards was right there!
We also went to The City Market and walked around. I am so jealous of this place!! I wish we had one of these locally!
This was such a culturally diverse place- we loved it! They had everything from fresh flowers:
To every kind of fresh fruit and veggie you can imagine.
We didn’t buy any produce because we didn’t have anywhere to keep it. But we did buy a jar of Blueberry Jam which is divine!
We took a walk around the city later on. Some things were pretty cool and others were just gross, like a man peeing in the street, people in devil and playboy bunny costumes drinking beer on the street and two homeless looking people battling it out in the median of an intersection. But we did see some pretty things, too.
I don’t mean to make this sound like a bad trip- we enjoyed it- but we were also ready to get home by Sunday morning.
We were up bright and early this morning at 4:30 AM. Hubby had to get to work early because he had to pack up to go on the road for work. He will be gone all week for the next 5 weeks and I am reallllly sad about this!
For breakfast, I had homemade light oat toast with PB and a sliced banana on top along with 1 cup of 1% milk for 9 points.
Short after breakfast, hubby had to leave.
I went back to bed for about an hour and then it was time to face the day. Monday’s are so hard when they start off like this one did!
I was hungry for my first break! I had a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar for 5 points.
And brought back 1/2 cup of grapes to munch on for .5 point.
We had network problems with work- so it wasn’t on my end, but I kept getting disconnected. I’m just glad it wasn’t on my end so I didn’t have to go into the office!
For lunch, I made up some chicken salad and ate it on a piece of bread with a tomato along w/ some Special K crackers for 6.5 points.
For dessert, I had Greek yogurt for 2 points.
And I think I was doing some emotional eating today- I ate some snack mix for 4 points.
I will have to get it together because Hubby is going to be gone a long time. I knew I should be eating fruits and veggies instead of snacky foods, but I didn’t want to- no excuses!!
The good news is that I wasn’t hungry at all on my last break.
My Mom came to stay the week with me!! I’m so happy to have her here and it will make the time go much faster!
For supper, I made another new HG recipe- Slow Cookin’ BBQ Chicken. This was was DELICIOUS! I also had a small sweet potato, green beans and a piece of bread with Blueberry jam for 8.5 points.
For dessert, I made banana soft serve with a small banana for 1.5 points.
I ended up using 6 weekly points tonight- whew! But most of it was due to my snacking today. I also ate WAY too much bread! So I’ll do better tomorrow, I promise!
After supper, we relaxed a little bit and then headed out the door for a short walk. It was a beautiful night out there!
I hope you all had a great Monday!
