KC Recap and Another Monday

I can’t believe it’s Monday already! Why do the weekends have to go so fast? Have you read my post on Rethinking Fitness? Be sure to check out the The Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k post with a giveaway and sign up!!!

This past weekend hubby and I took a little weekend trip to Kansas City. So first off, here is a little recap with pictures.

We stayed in Downtown KC at Hotel Phillips. It was a beautiful and historic hotel!

I loved the elevators in this place- golden doors. Smile

Here is the view from our room:

Overall, we weren’t all that impressed with the stay there. It was loud, the walls must have been paper thin. People would walk down the hallway at 3 AM screaming and yelling and pounding on doors. Parking cost $18 a night and then you had to tip the valet guy on top of that! It was a different experience overall, but probably not one we’ll do again in the near future.

On Saturday we just spent the day going to different places. We went to Crown Center- which was a fun place to walk around! We had Einstein Bagels- which was a first for us- I know! Winking smile

And the headquarters of Hallmark cards was right there!

We also went to The City Market and walked around. I am so jealous of this place!! I wish we had one of these locally!

KCand5k 012

This was such a culturally diverse place- we loved it! They had everything from fresh flowers:

To every kind of fresh fruit and veggie you can imagine.

We didn’t buy any produce because we didn’t have anywhere to keep it. But we did buy a jar of Blueberry Jam which is divine!

We took a walk around the city later on. Some things were pretty cool and others were just gross, like a man peeing in the street, people in devil and playboy bunny costumes drinking beer on the street and two homeless looking people battling it out in the median of an intersection. But we did see some pretty things, too. Winking smile

I don’t mean to make this sound like a bad trip- we enjoyed it- but we were also ready to get home by Sunday morning.

We were up bright and early this morning at 4:30 AM. Hubby had to get to work early because he had to pack up to go on the road for work. He will be gone all week for the next 5 weeks and I am reallllly sad about this! Sad smile

For breakfast, I had homemade light oat toast with PB and a sliced banana on top along with 1 cup of 1% milk for 9 points.

Short after breakfast, hubby had to leave. Crying face

I went back to bed for about an hour and then it was time to face the day. Monday’s are so hard when they start off like this one did!

I was hungry for my first break! I had a Peanut Butter Cookie Larabar for 5 points.

102510 002

And brought back 1/2 cup of grapes to munch on for .5 point.

102510 003

We had network problems with work- so it wasn’t on my end, but I kept getting disconnected. I’m just glad it wasn’t on my end so I didn’t have to go into the office!

For lunch, I made up some chicken salad and ate it on a piece of bread with a tomato along w/ some Special K crackers for 6.5 points.

102510 004

For dessert, I had Greek yogurt for 2 points.

102510 005

And I think I was doing some emotional eating today- I ate some snack mix for 4 points.

102510 006

I will have to get it together because Hubby is going to be gone a long time. I knew I should be eating fruits and veggies instead of snacky foods, but I didn’t want to- no excuses!!

The good news is that I wasn’t hungry at all on my last break. Winking smile

My Mom came to stay the week with me!! I’m so happy to have her here and it will make the time go much faster!

For supper, I made another new HG recipe- Slow Cookin’ BBQ Chicken. This was was DELICIOUS! I also had a small sweet potato, green beans and a piece of bread with Blueberry jam for 8.5 points.

102510 007

For dessert, I made banana soft serve with a small banana for 1.5 points.

102510 008

I ended up using 6 weekly points tonight- whew! But most of it was due to my snacking today. I also ate WAY too much bread! So I’ll do better tomorrow, I promise!

After supper, we relaxed a little bit and then headed out the door for a short walk. It was a beautiful night out there!

I hope you all had a great Monday!

  1. How long have you had the new header? Strawberries!!

Sounds like a fun weekend. I adore open markets like that and Einsteins! They don't have them where I am now, but we used to eat there all the time. Their cinnamon sugar bagel was my favorite...

  4. Bummer about the hotel, but at least it was beautiful!

Sorry to hear that your hubby has to be gone for a while. When I went to take care of my mom for two weeks, I left my hubby home and my heart literally ached the whole time we were apart. I also snacked and snacked and snacked. Emotional eating sucks! I hope the time flies by for you!

  8. Maybe you could do a goal for while hubby is away - like your 25 miles thing for Oct. It will get your mind off of him being gone. Its hard. D was gone for a few weeks too while we were in the middle of a move and with two kids. Its hard but it will pass. Have fun with mom and BE STRONG! :) - Angie
