5 Easy Ways to Clear Skin

5 Easy Ways to Clear Skin #AfterDifferinJourney #ad.jpg

I have had acne off and on since I was a teenager. Even as an adult, I have not been able to have a 100% clear face. However, I have found that skincare doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. Here are a few simple and easy-to-remember ways to clearer and more radiant skin.

1. Clean Up Your Diet

Clear your skin by improving your diet #AfterDifferinJourney #ad.jpg

There’s no doubt about it, you are what you eat. Your skin naturally becomes more radiant and clear when you’re consuming foods that are natural, healthy, and full of vitamins and minerals. Foods and drinks that are high in antioxidants can have positive effect on the skin. Fill your plate with the colors of the rainbow: fruits, veggies, foods high in omega-3s, and hydrate with a glass of refreshing water.

2. Wash Your Face at Night and in the Morning

fullsizeoutput_1102.jpeg

This one goes without saying, but sometimes it can be easy to forget to wash your face at night when you’re tired out and just ready to crash. If that’s the case, have a Facial Care Kit at your bedside so that you don’t have any excuses. Make it easy!

Depending on your skin, you may want to change up your washing method in the morning. If you do a deep clean of your face at night, then a more gentle approach in the morning is best so that you don’t dry out your skin.

3. Use Differin® Gel at Night

fullsizeoutput_10f9.jpeg

I started using Differin® Gel after washing my face in the evenings. I apply it over my whole face; it’s not a spot treatment. You need to apply a thin layer all over your face, once a day, every day. I simply added Differin® Gel to my daily routine of cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Since using Differin® Gel, I have noticed less acne and a clearer look to my face.

Before & After Differin® Gel Journey.jpg

It’s so hard to show the difference in a photo, but I think my skin is more radiant and has been consistently clear. Spots and discoloration, due to overexposure to the sun are still there, so you have to try to look past them! I’m happy to not have to deal with acne breakouts anymore!

Differin® Gel is the first and only prescription-strength retinoid available over-the-counter. It helps clear the skin and prevent acne. It’s the latest advancement in the OTC acne category in 30 years. It prevents breakouts deep in the pores before they begin and, as a result, restores the skin’s texture and tone.

I found Differin® Gel in the beauty section at Target, specifically in the aisle with facial care/skincare solutions.

I purchased Differin® Gel 45g, Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15, and Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths.

Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation.

4. Exfoliate

Exfoliate daily for clearer skin #AfterDifferinJourney #ad.jpg

Part of my daily morning routine is to exfoliate my face using a gentle clarifying lotion; you can also use a facial scrub. This process removes dead skin cells making the skin more radiant. I exfoliate after washing my face with a gentle cleanser. You wouldn’t believe the amount of filth that still comes off of my skin, even after a good cleansing! This process helps the skin remain clear. I make sure to follow it up with a moisturizer after using Differin® Gel.

5. Always, Always, ALWAYS Use Sunscreen

Apply Sunscreen to Protect Skin #AfterDifferinJourney #ad.jpg

I have learned this lesson the hard way. As a teenager, I disregarded the advice to wear sunscreen thinking that it wasn’t something I needed to worry about. I just wanted a really, really good tan. This lack of wisdom has turned into spots on my skin. Discolored spots cover my nose and random spots have begun to appear across my face. Needless to say, I am a lot more careful about applying sunscreen these days. Hopefully, these tips can help both of us prevent anymore additional damage to our skin!

Go to Differin.com to get $2 off Differin® Gel and use it on your next shopping trip to Target!

Super Easy Funny Face Pancakes

This shop has been compensated by CollectiveBias, Inc. on behalf of its advertiser, Similac. #NutritionintheMix #Collectivebias #Walmart

You can earn $3.00 with the purchase of any size of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™with the Ibotta app.

I have yet to determine any pattern with my toddler's eating habits. Sometimes she will eat everything I put before her (fruit, veggies, and all!), and other times she refuses the exact same meal or will only eat one of the items on her plate.

Only a parent knows how exciting it is when the little one gobbles up something healthy. I breathe a sigh of relief knowing that she has eaten something with good nutrition. I am always concerned that she is getting the nutrition that she needs and that I am also feeding her a variety of foods.

I can hardly imagine what it must be like trying to get a toddler to eat while you're short on time because it's a busy school day. More than likely, many toddlers don't get the nutrition they need at breakfast because mothers just don't have enough hands, or enough time, while trying to get the kids out the door in time to catch the school bus.

One thing my toddler will always eat is pancakes. She loves them. This recipe for Super Easy Funny Face Pancakes was made with toddlers and busy moms in mind. It's a simple four-ingredient recipe for the pancake batter, and any additional toppings for the face are totally up to you and what your toddler's preferences are that morning. It's a single serving, full of good nutrition, and it's quick and simple to prepare-- what more could you ask for?

The core four-ingredient recipe includes one egg, 1/2 banana (ripe), 1/8 tsp. baking powder, and uses one packet of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ for one serving (or 1/2 cup of food). This product is available at your local Walmart or at Walmart.com.

The toppings to make the face are totally your choice-- I used what I had on hand, as I'm sure you will too. Ideas for toppings are fruits like strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, bananas, oranges, and so on. You could also add whipped cream, chocolate chips, and more. Use as many or as few toppings as you'd like.

I found the Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™ and Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder in the infant formula section at Walmart. However, this product is not for babies. It is for toddlers aged 1-4.

I like the convenience of the Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™since they're pre-packaged in powder singles. They're perfect for throwing in your bag when you're on the go. For the sake of this recipe, I love that the product provides nutrients to support growth and development.

You can also buy the Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder form in a canister to go with your meals.

The Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder has OptiGro™, which is designed to support brain, eye, and physical development. The product has protein, fiber, and essential vitamins and minerals. It's the perfect complement to a healthy diet and can help give healthy recipes that extra nutritional punch.

The best part about this recipe is that you can make it with a blender. Throw the 1/2 banana, one egg, and 1/8 tsp. baking powder into the blender and blend until smooth.

Super Easy Funny Face Pancakes #NutritionintheMix #Walmart #ad Blend.png

Begin heating the griddle. You can also use a skillet on the stove, if you wish. I sprayed mine with olive oil.

Next, add one packet of Go & Grow by Similac® Mix-Ins™to one half cup of batter and blend. This batter will be used for your toddler’s pancakes. It's really that simple to make this batter-- and so full of nutrition!

Super Easy Funny Face Pancakes #NutritionintheMix #Walmart #ad add it in.png

Pour 1/2 of the batter on the griddle to form one large pancake, 1/4 of the batter to form a smaller pancake, and the last 1/4 of the batter to form a second small pancake. In my case, I tried to do this in one attempt on a small-ish griddle and could not fit all three pancakes on the griddle, so I ended up with extras--which was ok, because I just got creative with the extras.

Cook the pancakes until you are able to use a spatula to wiggle the pancakes without them breaking. The batter is very thin, so make sure to give it enough time to cook or the pancakes will fall apart. When the batter begins to bubble, it's a good indication that it's almost ready to flip.

Once the pancakes are cooked, place the two smaller pancakes at the top of the plate. These will be the ears of the funny face. Place the larger pancake on the plate so that it slightly overlaps the two smaller pancakes.

And you have the head for your funny face! Like I mentioned, I had some extra little pancakes so I put a little bow tie on mine. I used the fruit to make mine look like a mouse. I used blueberries for whiskers, strawberries for the ears, nose, and bow tie, kiwi for the eyes, and a squirt of whipped cream for good measure.

You can get creative with this! Make a new face with a different facial expression every morning. Using various toppings will give you new opportunity to make a new face. Have fun with it!

My little one usually likes a little bit of maple syrup on her pancakes. Just add some Go & Grow by Similac® Milk-Based Powder to a glass of water to go with your meal! She absolutely loved this!

The first thing she said when she saw the funny face pancake was "mouse!", so I must have done something right since she knew what it was!

Save this recipe for those hectic school day mornings by pinning it on Pinterest! And try it now too, of course. I'd love to know what you, and your littles, think about it.

6 Proven Things Every Beginner Needs When Training for a 5K #RaceDayRelief #ad

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #RaceDayRelief #CollectiveBias

I have completed more 5Ks than I can count. My fitness level varied at each race-- sometimes I set personal records & ran the entire race, and other times I was happy to have walked over the finish line in last place.

If you're a beginner, coming in last is probably one of your biggest race day fears. This may sound cliche, but even if you come in huffing and puffing into last place (been there) you're still lapping the person sitting on the couch (I have also been there). You will have a sense of self-pride simply for having completed the race.

I quickly learned that there are essentials when it comes to being a newbie runner. These are the top 6 things that are my personal must-haves.

{Proper Gear}

Having a good pair of running shoes is a must. I have used Saucony, Asics, New Balance, and Adidas-- my favorites have always been the Asics. It's worth spending a little extra money for a pair of shoes that will prevent pain in your feet, legs, and hips.

You'll be a lot more comfortable if you have workout clothes that are made of wicking material. If you're plus-sized like me, it can be difficult to find good workout clothes so if you find some that you like--buy a few!

Investing in socks that won't slip down into your shoes will help prevent blisters. If you're a woman, wear a supportive sports bra. I always wear sunglasses when running outside. You can buy sunglasses that don't steam up, but I've never bought them.  Wearing a non-slip headband helps keep your hair out of your face.

{Find a Training Program; Make it Yours}

You can find 5K training programs by doing a Google search for "5K training programs for beginners". My personal favorite is the Couch to 5K training program. Each training session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes. You have a choice between completing the workout for time or distance. As a beginner, if I completed the workout for distance it would often take me longer than 30 minutes--and that's ok.

There is no one-size-fits-all training program out there. You have to find a program and make it your own. As a beginner, I struggled to complete even running 60-90 seconds at a time. So I gave myself grace and I stayed on a certain week of the training program for as long as it took me until I felt comfortable or ready to move on to the next week. I would complete the same week over and over again, sometimes for months.

{A Good Sports Drink}

Hydration is important when you're exerting yourself while running. I drank water at first, but then decided to try a low calorie sports drink and I was amazed at the difference that I felt. I had more energy and increased my endurance. I personally use a drink that's only 35 calories, is sweetened with stevia, and doesn't contain anything artificial.

{Fast Acting Advil Film-Coated}

There's no doubt about it, training for a 5K can be painful. You're putting a lot of pressure on your joints and pushing your body to do more than it's used to-- you will more than likely be a little (or a lot) sore.

While training for any kind of race, whether it's a 5K or a stock car race-- comfort is key when it comes to the big Race Day. Participants spend a lot of time preparing for Race Day and not having to be distracted by discomfort is a plus for any rookie, even Ty Dillon knows how important it is to be comfortable for the big race after placing in the top 6 at his first race at a new venue.

While it's good to have a rest day or two prior to the official race day to make sure you're comfortable, one could also take Advil Film-Coated for fast acting relief from the aches and pains associated with running. Use fast acting Advil Film-Coated for headaches, muscles aches, toothaches, menstrual cramps, back pain, and aches and pains associated with the common cold. Because of the rapid release formula, it begins working within minutes and you'll be ready for Race Day without the aches to slow you down.

I found Advil Film-Coated at Walmart in an 80 count package which also contained 20 free tablets for a total of 100. It was near the pharmacy section in the Pain & Fever aisle.

Click here for a $3 off coupon for the 80 count+ Advil Film-Coated.

{Yoga}

Your muscles will need a good stretching after enduring a run. Yoga is a good practice for your cross training days. It feels absolutely amazing and is a great way to take care of yourself. It's good for the mind and body. You can find free yoga workouts on YouTube.

{Self-Love}

Most of all, be kind to yourself and show yourself love. You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to be the fastest. You don't have to run the entire 5K-- it's ok to walk if you need to. Focus on the positives rather than anything you feel you're not doing well enough. Practice makes practice because nobody is perfect. Do your best and that's all that matters. The only one you need to compete with is yourself.

How do you make yourself comfortable for race day? Do you use Advil Film-Coated?
