Ingredients:
- 1 Cup spinach
- Fruit of your choice (my favorite combinations listed):
- 2 oranges
- 1 banana and 1 orange
- 1/3 Cup light vanilla yogurt (the yogurt I use is 1 Power Point per 1/3 Cup)
- 1 Tbs. Splenda (optional)
- 1 Cup crushed ice
Instructions:
- Put your fruit in the blender until it is a smooth consistency with no chunks.
- Add the spinach until it is blended smooth.
- Add the yogurt until mixed well.
- Add the crushed ice and blend until it is smooth with no chunks of ice.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy!
I have found adding the ingredients in the order that I have listed works best to get a very smooth consistency. You can be really creative with these. I have found I like them best with 1 cup of spinach and lots of fruit added. You can’t even taste the spinach that way but you get all of the benefits of it!
Yum! I love a green smoothie. I make mine w/unsweetened almond milk, ice, Amazing grass SuperFood, spinach, a banana, and stevia. Nom, nom, nom. I can't recall how many PP it is now. It's cheaper now, since the banana doesn't cost! :)
ReplyDeleteI used to make green smoothies all.the.time! And I adored them! I need to get back to doing it, especially since they are so freaking low in points!
ReplyDeletespinach and fruit just seems wrong!
ReplyDeleteI love green monsters. I just made some last night with my hubby :)
ReplyDeleteHi Alisa, I hope you've had a good week. I REALLY have to try a green smoothie sometime soon. Have a great rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreen Smoothies are the best, especially if they have BANANA!
ReplyDeleteThis sounded really good, and so I updated my own smoothie recipe on my e-tools and found that it was 7 Points!!! So I put yours in and it was 5 points!! This is weird....how did you calculate the points? Just trying to figure out the difference:) Not give you a hard time!
ReplyDeleteI think what happens is the recipe builder on Weight Watchers considers all nutritional information for all ingredients, even fruits & veggies. There is a lot of disagreement as to whether fruits & veggies in a smoothie still count as zero point foods. I personally do not count points for fruits or veggies in my smoothies or anything else for that matter because to me, if it's zero points, it's zero points, no matter what. I only count points for any extra stuff, like the yogurt or any almond milk or peanut butter I put in it.
DeleteThanks for posting the recipe! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely gonna try this. Sounds good. And I'm sure it tastes good... as you've been giving it glowing reviews! :)
ReplyDeleteI must try one of these!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS SO VERY MUCH
ReplyDeleteI will leave out the splenda and try with plain yogurt....see if it tastes okay..
Want to add one orange and one banana as that sounds delish!!!
I can't wait to try your Green Monster recipe.
ReplyDeleteKeeping this one to try. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post about the recipe tool. Totally gonna keep that in mind now that I know. I have been using it quite a bit but only was stumped when it came to my smoothie!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this! I made it today and LOVE it!!!! My roommate and I cannot believe how tasty & simple it is. :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you posted the recipe... I'm trying to bring myself to try it... Something about the green color that turns me off... Now, tell me it tastes like an Orange Julius and I'll get over the color :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is spinach, a 1/2 cup of orange juice, mango and banana with 1 tablespoon chia seeds thrown in and a few ice cubes.
ReplyDeleteSo good!
Congrats on your weight loss so far, you are doing great!

I was told that bananas aren't 0 pts if they are blended in a smoothie because you are taking away the fiber breakdown. Not sure what the points are for a blended banana though
ReplyDeleteYou are more than welcome to count the points how you chose to do so. Here is a post about my explanation for how I count points:
