Why I Blog #HAWMC

Today’s HAWMC prompt is… “I write about my health because…”

Way back in 2008, I wrote my very first post. A couple of things that I wrote stick out to me:

This Blog is to help me on my journey to being at a healthy weight. I want to lose enough weight that I feel comfortable and happy in my own skin.

The reason that I am starting this blog, other than what is mentioned above, is that I am starting to feel a little discouraged and I feel that writing down what I am thinking about will be therapeutic for me. I don't want to give up!!!

I never could have imagined what blogging about my weight loss journey would do for me. I firmly believe that blogging about my weight loss journey has been the greatest motivator. They say that having a support system is important while trying to lose weight and based on the support I have received from blogging, I couldn’t agree more.

But why do I write about my journey?

Because when I write, it causes me to delve into myself and really think things through. I don’t know how many “ah ha” moments I have had while writing a blog post. It really has been therapeutic for me.

I also have come to realize that I am not alone in my struggles. I want to share my own journey so that hopefully I can inspire others. I want others to see that changing your lifestyle can be done in simple ways. Eating healthy can be fun and flavorful. It also doesn’t have to exist of eating salads for every meal.

I write for myself and I write for others in my situation. And mostly, I write because I don’t want to give up this time. I also don’t want others to give up!

Why do you write about your weight loss journey?

This post is part of a series of posts that will run through the month of April as part of the Health Activist Writer’s Month Challenge.

  2. You are so right! It is very much like therapy. I also hope to encourage others who want to get healthy and may seem overwhelmed at times.

Blogging about running/health keeps us all focused!

  3. Because of one thing you mentioned: I don't WANT to give up...but things have been stalled that way. A blog to express yourself, get support, and accountability is a great way to stay on the forward path (no matter how slow!!)

  4. Love this post! I blog because I want to pay-it-forward. I want to inspire people to see that even when it seems impossible, it can be done!

  5. I first started blogging to connect with people raising an autistic child. But in the last 1 1/2 years it has been about being a healthier me.
