Sick…But Loved <3

The good news is that the cayenne pepper gargle seemed to help with the sore throat quite a bit. It wasn’t nearly so bad today, actually the sore throat was virtually gone. But I did wake up with a full fledged cold. Ick!

I got to sleep in until almost 8:00 today. It felt wonderful. When I went downstairs, I found this:

Awwww Smile

For breakfast this morning, I had the time to make steel cut oats, so I ate 1/2 cup of those with 1/2 cup Pomegranate, egg beaters with Canadian bacon, a glass of milk and a banana for 7 points.

A delicious breakfast! I love the texture of the steel cut oats. So good.

I usually drink a ton of water everyday, but it’s hard to do when you’re not feeling well. So I decided I would drink tea throughout the day to help with the fluids. I had a couple cups of green tea for 0 points.

And then I just chilled for a while. I had today off of work and school since it’s Thanksgiving break. Worked out pretty well!

I did do some reading for school though. I had planned to use today to work on some final projects, but I was just not feeling it. All I really wanted to do was sleep. So I cuddled up with a quilt and read my book instead, which I had to get done anyway!

For lunch, I had more leftover homemade chicken noodle soup for 3 points.

And a side salad with lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, feta and French dressing for 3 points.

I did some housework after lunch and then sat down to continue reading with a Vanilla Chai tea. I added 1/4 cup of milk to it for 1 point.

I looked up some more home remedies for sinus congestion. The most popular one I saw was called tomato tea. So I gave it a try. I used watered down tomato sauce (no salt), garlic, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and celery salt. I boiled it and drank it down. It was pretty tasty, actually! And by the way, you could totally eat this as soup and it’s 0 points!

I didn’t feel much relief in my sinuses though. But supposedly this mixture is also very high in vitamin C, so it’s good for me, if nothing else. Oh, and I have some lovely garlic breath to share with hubby. Winking smile

Late afternoon, I ate an orange for 0 points.

I made a cheese ball for Thanksgiving:

And made some frosting for the pumpkin bars that I’m bringing.

Hubby was so sweet. I am so lucky to have a man like him! He brought me home this card—so cute!

112211 013

And bought me two Lindt truffles. I will be saving these until I can taste again!

112211 014

For supper, I made Swai fillets with veggies on the side for 4 points.

Couldn’t taste a thing. So eating is no fun. I skipped dessert and watched hubby eat a pumpkin bar…Bleh! I have 18 points left for the day. Yeh, I know. I just wasn’t in the mood to eat today…which we all know never happens for me! haha. I’m sure one day won’t hurt me. Tomorrow is weigh in day, so hard telling what will happen, but I’m hoping for a loss! I was very close to Onederland this morning, so there is a CHANCE it could happen.

One more work day and then let the long weekend begin!

Don’t forget the Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k! We have 48 people signed up so far…SO close to that 50 I was aiming for!
