I hope that you’re having a great weekend! I know I am! Hubby and I went to a few garage sales and I scored some books, a workout dvd, and 2 different levels of steps for step aerobic type workouts- they were part of a The Firm set. I’ve been wanting them for a long time and was happy to get both for only $2.50!

I just wasn’t in the mood to eat today while I was at work- so no snacks- which is new for me, and probably not really good for me either! I felt really sluggish and tired by the time I got home!

The interview went alright- I won’t be disappointed if I don’t get it. There are benefits either way for me.

Please Excuse my Lack of Veggies

For breakfast this morning I made an egg white omelet with fat free cheese and ham, along with a banana and a glass of milk for 6 points.

Before leaving for school, I brewed some coffee with half and half for 1 point.

School was interesting today to say the least. Other students are still giving presentations in my first class and one of the students fainted during his presentation. The poor guy. He is usually so calm and laid back seeming. The professor was like, “I know I’m intimidating but now I know I’m REALLY intimidating.” Yes, he is.

In the second class, we had to bring a news article from the day and year that we were born. Well, I found out that I am about 8 years older than everyone in the class!! I guess it’s about time to graduate! lol.

For lunch, I had 2 grilled tuna melt sandwiches with ketchup for 12 points.

Totally hit the spot and definitely some comfort food! For dessert, I had an apple with PB for 3 points.

And then it was time for work! Thankfully the day went very fast!

After work, hubby was mowing the lawn, so I decided to head out for a walk. Well, I walked about 5 minutes. The sun was shining and it just felt so good on my face. It has been so cloudy and rainy for so long. So I headed home, changed into my sports bra and headed out for a run. I ended up running 1 mile and walked 1.5. As soon as I started running, it clouded over and was windy and cold. My ears were killing me, otherwise I may have run farther than the 1 mile. I ran the mile in 12:03, which is pretty average for me. But the workout took me 36 minutes total and I burned 380 calories- I’ll take that!!

Speaking of activity, I have decided to join a challenge for the month of May. Jenn is hosting this one! The goal is to get 10,000 steps a day in the month of May.

I think this will be just what I need to at least try to be more active- even if it’s just walking around more or taking a parking spot that’s farther away.

For supper, I had 2 tacos for 7 points.

I also had a serving of Baked Scoops and guacamole for 6 points.

For supper, I planned to use a few extra points and have a delicious meal and that’s what I did! (Please excuse my lack of veggies today- kind of a weird and rushed day for me!)

For dessert, I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a sliced banana and caramel along with a few pecans for 6 points.

DELICIOUS! I ended up using 8 weekly points today. but you know what? I’m not feeling deprived nor do I feel like I want to search through the cupboards for junk food. So I’ll call that progress. And I did earn some activity points today.

Tomorrow I have my interview! I am trying to tell myself to be confident and believe in myself! Wish me luck! Smile Now to figure out what to wear…

Weigh in Day

This morning I weighed in at 208.2, which is a .4 loss this week. I am going to take it and run with it because I didn’t have the best week- once again. This has GOT to change. The only hope that I have is that next week is finals week and everything should calm down a bit after that. But a loss is a loss and I’m going to take it!

For breakfast, I had oatmeal with a sliced banana and peanut butter, along with a glass of milk for 10 points.

On my first break, I had a Yoplait Honey Vanilla Greek yogurt for 4 points.

For lunch, I had egg salad with carrots and a slice of German black bread for 6 points.

I LOVE this bread! I found it at the store when I got groceries last night. It’s a locally made bread and only 2 points per slice! YUM!

For dessert, I had what was left of the No Pudge! brownie mix- which was a half serving- 2 points.

I am going to ease up a bit on trying to get certain percentages of protein, fat and carbs. I am now mindful of getting in more protein, but I feel like it was just too much for me right now and I felt like I was deprived. This might be the cause for me wanting to snack- and go over my points- and have weigh ins like I have had lately. I learned a lot from my little experiment and I am still aiming at getting more protein in- but just easing up a bit on tracking it all. I need to do something that I can sustain and not feel overwhelmed doing. Little changes, right?

Part of it may have been feeling like I have not had much variety in what I’m eating. I’ve felt like I can’t eat bread, oatmeal, fruits or anything carb like. There’s nothing wrong with eating these foods- in moderation. And that has always been my philosophy. I have to do what works for me. Ideally, I would love to be able to eat only “healthy” foods all the time and feel satisfied, but I don’t. I admire those of you who can eat like you’re on the first day of a diet, every single day.

I think that I set up these goals for myself on how I should be eating, and then when I fall short- I feel like a failure and that sparks eating foods I really shouldn’t be indulging in, etc. The trend continues. So I’m going to keep doing this my way- incorporating what I have learned! This sounds like a plan to me, but I am always willing to make changes when I feel they are needed.

For my last break, I had an apple with PB for 3 points.

For supper, I had grilled chicken, black eyed peas, cottage cheese and Green Giant Broccoli and Cheese for 8 points.

For dessert, I had a serving of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup ice cream for 5 of my weekly points.

I need to start making pudding ahead of time again for desserts- so low point and so delicious!

Overall, I feel like today was a pretty healthy day. Could have eaten more veggies though!

I’m glad that we’re half way through the week!

Grape Dessert- Recipe Week 16- 1 Point Plus



This is a delicious snack or dessert and only 1 PointsPlus!


Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of cleaned grapes
  • 1/4 cup of Cool Whip Free
Directions:


  1. Mix the grapes and Cool Whip and enjoy!


You can also add nuts or other toppings, but make sure to count the points!

Back to the Grind

It’s great having hubby home again! I got up with him at 5 AM for breakfast. I had a slice of light toast with PB and a sliced banana along with a cup of milk for 5 points.

On my first break, I had some strawberry Greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and sliced almonds for 5 points.

This was delicious!

For lunch, I made a salad with lettuce, lemon pepper tuna, miracle whip (which I didn’t need), cottage cheese, flax seeds, tomato, and cheese- I didn’t eat all of it- 5 points.

And for a little something sweet, I had a chocolate chunk cookie for 3 points.

It was a long day at work today. It seemed to drag on and on and we were pretty busy.

For supper, I made an egg white omelet with ham and cheese along with a whole grain waffle with sugar free syrup and a sliced banana for 8 points.

A Saturday with My Sister

We went for a leisurely 2 hour walk while the kids rode their bikes and explored everything.
