The Thankful Healthy Blogger 5K *GIVEAWAY*

I don’t know about the rest of you here in the U.S., but I am starting to think about Thanksgiving. It’s a day full of delicious, rich foods and we all know our mistakes of the past on these types of food oriented holidays.

I really wanted to find a Turkey Trot 5k in the area, but it’s just not going to work with our plans, so I thought I would organize my own virtual 5k called The Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k!

ThankfulHealthyBlogger5K

This will be motivation for me to get active on Thanksgiving Day. Far too often I sit around and just eat too much on Thanksgiving and I am going to change that around this year. Don’t get me wrong, I am going to eat those traditional foods, but in moderation. This year though, I am going to make it a point to get in some exercise for once. I feel that one positive action leads to many more positive actions and for me, starting the day off with a 5k will be the perfect way to start Thanksgiving Day. Care to join me?

Here are the rules:

1) Run or walk a 5k on Thanksgiving Day- anytime during the day is fine. If you have an organized 5k race planned that day, that’s fine- you can double dip by participating in this one too (Just run that race and tell me how you did)! Leave me a comment telling me that you will be participating.

2) Mention in a post that you will be participating and feel free to display The Thankful Healthy Blogger 5k Button on your blog along with a link back to this post! (You can grab the HTML on the right beneath my button on my sidebar!) Spread the word! I think that it would be awesome to get as many bloggers involved as possible to make this an active Thanksgiving!

3) Send me a photo showing that you participated. If you don’t want to show your face, take a picture of your running shoes or something- use your creativity. SmileAlso, send me your time. This is not a race in the traditional sense, it’s just about getting out there and getting active, but it would be fun to show times at the end, too. Wouldn’t it be awesome to break your personal PR? Feel free to email me any accomplishments, such as the aforementioned! Email this to Bloggergirl23(at)aol.com. Please send me this information by 6 PM CST on Saturday November 27th to qualify! Giveaway will end at that time.

4) Have fun!!

And yes, there will be a prize for one lucky winner chosen via a random number generator! Open-mouthed smileEveryone will get one entry for participating! I am opening this up to everyone. You do not need to be in the U.S. to win this one! I have been wanting to have my own giveaway, out of my own pocket, for a long time to thank you all for your continued support in this journey- so this is my chance!

Here are the giveaway goodies:

KCand5k 030

Just a few random goodies! There’s a Stayfit container, Justin’s almond butter, diet hot cocoa, Trader Joe’s Duchess Grey tea, a reusable coffee cup, Exta gum, a fruit strip, a pink bag, Jolly Time popcorn, two Larabars and-Yes, that is a box of Gevalia Pumpkin Spice Coffee over there, too! Winking smile

Join me and make this Thanksgiving Healthy and Active!

  2. Hi Alissa--
I'm new to this blogging thing and decided that if I could link your button onto my sidebar on my first try, I'm in! So, I'm in for the 5k on Thanksgiving morning. I'll be running two halfs (back to back, yikes!) the weekend after, so I won't be fast! Thanks for coordinating this.

  18. Hi! I just found your blog. I'm currently planning on doing a local Turkey Trot 5K, but my hubby has been sick so I'll have to see how that morning pans out. So, I'm tentatively in.

I'm also hosting a challenge on my blog starting today, for the next week ~ we're all going to double our efforts (workout, healthy habits, weightloss, etc....) for the next week to go into Thanksgiving a little ahead of the game. Feel free to stop by and I hope you join us!

  32. just found your blog via another Turkey trotter! I had planned on doing a personal triathlon today, but have re-injured my foot a bit, so still got in everything, only the "run" was on the elliptical machine:

    50 minute swim
    90 minute bike ride
30 minute "run" aka elliptical machine

thanks for the motivation to everyone!
