First of all, I just have to say that I am so sore today from the 30 Day Shred that I can barely walk. Happens every time. It’s such a good workout. The only problem is that I am not able to run today as I had planned to because I am SO SORE. I was thinking about doing the 30 Day Shred 30 days in a row soon, but I’m not sure I can handle that!
Yesterday went well. Only problem was that I got to snacking later on in the evening. I tracked everything and I am still on points.
This morning we woke up to 6 inches of snow. My husband’s work told him they didn’t want them coming in today because of the road conditions and they were to get worse as the day goes by, because of increasing winds. So he took me to work from 7-10 and then picked me up. I love it when I don’t have to drive on the terrible roads! We headed over to the University book store to get the books that I couldn’t find online- so expensive! We then went to Panchero’s for lunch- which I didn’t make the best decisions at and to top it off, had Coldstone for dessert. I counted this as 32 points! THAT’S INSANE! But I’m still within my points.
I keep falling back into these old habits. Why can’t I seem to eat healthy 100% of the time? Why do I keep letting myself slip up? I’m having a very hard time getting motivated. I don’t have that spark that you have when you first start dieting. It’s gotten mundane. But this is life and I’ll have to deal with it.
I read some of your blogs and don’t know where you get your dedication? Losing 100 + lbs in a year? I lost 40 lbs. in a year. That’s very slow and I know I could do better if I always stayed focused. What do you do to stay focused? Any tips to help me on this would be greatly appreciated.
I know that overall, all that matters is that I keep plugging along. It’s not about how fast I can lose weight, but sometimes I get really impatient. I have no right to be impatient if I’m not doing everything I can to lose the weight.
Hubby and I are going to spend the rest of the day just relaxing. Looking forward to it!! :)
I have no idea what advice to offer you. I did this journey a few times over the last 7 years and last year it all happened for me...to me something *clicked* in my head and nothing could stop me.
ReplyDeleteBut it took me a while.
You doing so well...
But 40 pounds in a year is amazing and great! You're doing a wonderful job. People lose at different rates. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Alissa,
ReplyDeleteOk I'm going to try and smack you on the back of the head gently. Here's the thing...in the last year you have worked very hard to get to today. And I know that losing 40 pounds in a year is smaller than what you had thought about losing last January...but the fact that you have done this for a year, listening to your brain/food connection, working out, walking, finding fun things to do with your hubby that include exercise and counting points, even for the foods that you may feel bad about. You're on the right track, if you lose 40 more this year you'll be in the 1's and 40 more the year after you're practically at goal.
Don't get down on yourself, keep working towards healthy, and go do that shred.
I am having the same thing where I am feeling a lack of motivation and I keep sinking back into old habits. Like I ate a whole bag of popcorn and an insane amount of goldfish right before I went to bed last night. How unnecessary? I suggest taking a few minutes and meditate on your goals and re-align your views on how to do better. It really helps to just refocus and sort of press refresh on your life. Soon enough, you will wake up and realize that you really want to lose this weight for yourself and you will begin to eat healthier and make better choices. And remember, gum and water are always your best friends!! And if you go to a coffee shop or out to meet a friend (or with the hubby) make sure you always have a breakfast bar or a fiber one bar handy, and try just ordering a coffee. I like to sit there and sip slowly, enjoying my drink as I catch up with people. It is just as occupying as eating while chatting.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
40 lbs is a lot! More than a lot of people can say. You can't compare yourself to others. Be kinder to yourself!!!! Hugs! Christina http://mommaof3ontherun.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteMaybe you need to mix things up a bit. Have you tried doing anything besides the 30 day shed? If you are extremely sore, it may be a bit too challenging for you at this time. There is no shame in building up to a particular type of workout.
ReplyDeleteBTW, 40 pounds is a huge amount of weight to lose. What a great accomplishment.
I don't think there is a person in the world that eats healthy 100% of the time. It's impossible to be perfect. As long as you are 85 to 90% on plan, you'll get to where you want to be.
ReplyDeleteYoga might help with your sore muscles. Whenever I workout hard I like to do yoga because it stretches the muscles and it is just very relaxing. Also taking a hot bath with bubbles helps.
ReplyDeleteOn eating: I had to make eating healthy and exercising my life @ 110%. By exploring my need to eat comfort foods like fried chicken and cheesy rice,I realized those foods made me feel better or for a better word they distracted me from my real issue. So now when I think of those foods I ask myself "what is the real issue?" and I solve it.
Eating out is hard for some but you have to study that menu and make the right choices. It's about being in control at all the times.
The first and most important thing I learned was not to beat myself up about my downfalls and to get right back up again.
You will figure it out because you care about yourself. Never stop caring!
what i have to focus me is the fact that i want to have another baby
ReplyDeleteand that all the need to keep me focused
i can actually picture myself happy with my family
i am not doing this to be thin i am doing this be healthy and ahve a 2nd child
and now its helped because my sister is getting married in august and i am the maid of honor so i want to look as good as i can for that
i have lots of things that keep me going
i think the big one to focus on is we started this just be healthier no matter how long it takes
it should really just be a lifestyle change
i didnt lose 100 pounds in a year i think that is great but alot i could do it it was my goal and i go tot 80 and im telling you that was very difficult
i think 40 is wonderful i know how hard it is be proud of your self i am proud of you
and remember the slower it ocmes off the more likely it is that you will mantain the loss
I'm on Day 12 of Shred, and while I feel sore, I also feel awesome. If you need to try modified versions then try them.
ReplyDeleteAnd here's the thing..I've lost 72 pounds since April..not super fast, but very steadily. And I can tell you that if you're trying to be perfect, you'll always fail. You don't have to be perfect..you just have to do well most of the time.
And it sounds like you need to forgive yourself. Forty pounds is great. Just keep going! And make today a little better than yesterday.
Best of luck to you!
"You don't have to be perfect..you just have to do well most of the time."
ReplyDeleteKenz, this is a AMAZING quote! Wow.
thanks for the nice comment
ReplyDeleteyes if he has any dairy or wheat he starts to flap and rock and has all the classical signs of autism and he usually cant speak as well i really am not sure about the speaking thing but thats what i hear from others if the diets messed up at all the children can revert to not speaking again
all i know is at 2 years and a couple months old my son could not speak a word and had all the classical signs of autism and was diagnosed with moderate to severe autism
and after a week on the diet he said mama ball when he wanted to throw a ball to me
the fact that he wanted to play catch was amazing
the fact that he spoke because we figured that he may never speak almost made me hit the floor lol
and from there it has only gotten better i would say after 2 years on this diet and some other supplements that are all natural
he is 75% typical 4 and a half year old most of the time
its an amazing blessing
Sorry i'm a bit behind on reading blogs but i hope you had a nice day with the hubs! And yes you may lose slower than other people but i truly believe that slower stays off better :)
